Gender Testing During Pregnancy

Overview

Gender testing during pregnancy is a way to find out the sex of the baby before birth. There are different methods to do this.

  • Amniocentesis and chorionic villus sampling: These tests are usually done for medical reasons to check for genetic issues, but they can also reveal the baby's sex. It's important to note that these tests have risks and should only be done for valid medical reasons, not just to determine the baby's gender.
    • Chorionic villus sampling is usually done between weeks 10 and 13
    • Amniocentesis is usually done between weeks 15 and 20.
  • Cell-free DNA screening: This can detect the sex of the baby as early as 9 weeks into the pregnancy.
