Skin Infections

Skin infections can be caused by bacteria, viruses, fungi, or parasites and can lead to pain, swelling, and changes in skin color. They can occur when germs enter the body through a break in the skin or in moist areas where skin rubs together. Skin infections can range from mild to serious and may require medical treatment depending on the cause and severity. People with weakened immune systems are at higher risk for skin infections and related complications.
