Gastroesophageal Reflux

Gastroesophageal reflux, also known as acid reflux or heartburn, happens when stomach contents flow back up into the esophagus, causing a sour taste in the mouth and discomfort. This condition can lead to heartburn and irritation of the esophagus lining. Risk factors include obesity, smoking, pregnancy, and certain medical conditions. Treatment involves over-the-counter remedies, dietary changes, and in severe cases, prescription medication or surgery.
