Renal Artery Stenosis
Renal Artery Stenosis (RAS) is a condition where the arteries that supply blood to the kidneys become narrow. This can lead to high blood pressure, swelling, and kidney damage over time. Treatment options include vessel reconstruction and drug therapy, but recent studies have shown that stenting - when a small mesh tube is used to open passages in narrow arteries - combined with drug therapy may not improve the prognosis for patients with moderate to severe RAS. Diagnostic procedures such as renal duplex ultrasound, computed tomography angiography, and magnetic resonance angiography are used to assess RAS.
